Default 30 minute boil?

I just purchased the AHS Belgian White Beer with the follwoing recipe:

Amount Item Type % or IBU
4.75 lb Pilsner (2 Row) Bel (2.0 SRM) Grain 46.3 %
3.00 lb White Wheat Malt (2.4 SRM) Grain 29.3 %
2.50 lb Wheat, Flaked (1.6 SRM) Grain 24.4 %
0.50 oz Ahtanum [6.00%] (30 min) Hops 7.9 IBU
0.50 oz Ahtanum [6.00%] (5 min) Hops 2.0 IBU
0.50 oz Coriander Seed (Boil 15.0 min) Misc
0.50 oz Orange Peel, Bitter (Boil 15.0 min) Misc

My question is that it only calls for a 30 minute boil instead of a 60 minute. Would you do it as 30 or 60minutes?

I've never done anything as short as 30 min, but AHS knows their stuff and I would follow their recipe unless you have good reason to change it.

This is a low-IBU beer that should have a light color, so a 30 minute boil makes sense. Also, at 30 minutes, the bittering add will leave some flavor.

That would work as I do 60 min boils with ony 3%AAs. At 30 min boils you would get both bittering and flavoring attributes of the hop.

I recently did that recipe and it came out really well except that I would double the amount of orange peel since that really didn't come through for my batch.

I did a 30 minute boil on my blonde ale and it turned out very light in color and tastes great.

Theres no rule saying you have to boil for an hour. Belgians are great for short boils cause if their low hopping rates.
