Pretty much, but I don't ever reverse the buckets. I refill the cold water when it gets low. After 10 gallons or so run through (about 2 full buckets), I just put the outflow hose into the top of the cold bucket and fill it with ice and water. The first ten gallons are so hot there is no point recirculating it.

No wasted water, I do laundry the same day and it all goes into the washer.
