Default Vinator Spring

Just got a vinator for sanitizing bottles. Can't believe I didn't buy one before now. Its really handy.

One question though. When I assembled it, it looks like the spring gets bent sideways. At first, I didn't think it was working and disassembled it. I finally realized I needed to prime it. The device works fine, but I did notice the spring is very bent out of shape. Is this normal? Will the spring break or stop working properly?
