Default Useful Life of Star-San

Hey guys, just a quick sanitation question...I just recently started using Star-San (before I was using C-Brite), and I was just wondering how long it stays "good". Can it be stored and used for multiple batches, or is it sort of a "one-and-done" product? Also, as I'm sure you're aware, it creates an awful lot of bubbling/suds when being mixed, and although it's a no-rinse sanitizer, do I need to take any special measures to get rid of the bubbles before my sanitized equipment comes into contact with my wort/beer?

The bubbles are your friend...don't fear the bubble. Sometimes I rack onto the bubbles in a carboy and they come out the neck like a Star-san eruption. Beer porn.

In terms of the useful life, I usually mix up a batch of Star-san when I start a batch of beer and use it through the full cycle of bottling without any problems. If it stops foaming and/or gets cloudy, then ditch it. If it's clear and foamy, sanitize with confidence.

So basically I should expect it to be alright for a good 3 weeks at least, right? I mixed up 2.5 gallons on Sunday to sanitize my primary for the IPA I'm brewing tonight - so I can store it in a sealed bucket for a few weeks and use it when racking to secondary, to sanitize my bottles, etc? Sweet...I already like this stuff more than C-Brite (although I'm not sure of the useful life of C-Brite, it left white powder on one of my siphon hoses after it sat in the solution for about a week).

You got it. I've kept it for up to a month, but would probably toss it after that just to be safe. Unless you're secondarying for an extended period, you can usually mix up one batch of Star-san and use it for one entire brew cycle.
