I did a HBT search on polyethylene and found some good information, so I'm giving this tank some consideration, but wanted to get some opinions:

Specifically I'm wondering about shape, potential cooling difficulties, etc...basically would you use it?

That's a decent price but I see a lot of potential issues with it.

One thing I would look at is a technical drawing to see if the legs are hollow on the inside, if so this will leave pockets for yeast sediment, etc to sit and become nasties. Plus will it drain completely?

The other thing is cooling, since it is plastic your best bet for cooling would be some sort of immersion cooler. I have a conical 35 gallon from Norwesco and plan to use a SS chiller in the same fashion, the question I would have is what's the diameter of that?

Just some things to consider.

Good points. I didn't consider the hollow legs, but I'm sure that is what they are. Since I saw that one, I've been taking a look at this guy:

Smaller, more expensive (with the stand), but shaped more to the purpose.

They also have some great conical with stand combos but didn't know if you really needed 35 gallons.

There are a few threads here about setting up those 15 gallon conicals as fermentors.

These would be more of what you need. I had one which worked well, however I sold it to a fellow HBT'er who might someday ferment with it (LOL). I found that I liked using a large soda type keg better because I can do a CO2 transfer easier. The plastic conical is easier to clean.

That one does look good. I might be moving it to the top of the list. The stand is a little pricey, but I bet I could probably build a wooden stand for it.

Same! I have two of these in 15 (using a 10 gal system as well and 15 is plenty!) but shipping is raping me so I am interested to find out if the Tractor supply ones will work. If they will, no shipping
