Default Is thermometer submersible?

I just got one of these...

To put on my mash tun, and i was wondering if the thermometer is submersible or if i have to make a thermowell for it...

I would say that it isn't just because if you look in the catalog the one next to it specifically mentions that it is and that one doesn't

so anybody have any quick ideas on making a thermowell for this, i have it going into my cooler mash tun...

Just stick it in there but dont submerge it and close the lid, it's what i do.

Or drill a hole and just a bulk head and a compression fitting.

if you can, put aquarium airline tubing around the cord and seal with zip ties, so that only the metal probe is exposed.

that worked for the oven thermometer I got at Target, full digital readout, plus a timer and temp alert, for $14.
