So I am in the process of converting kegs to brewing equipment and I am hung up on thermometers. My main question is do I need a thermowell for them?? It just seems like a waste of money and a hassle to find the correct sizes. I am thinking of not going with thermowells but would this mess up my thermometers?
Also, do Blichmann Brewmometers need a thermowell? It seems as though they dont need one.
If the main reason for a thermowell is to protect against damage, could I just rig something up like a piece of copper tubing that goes over the thermometer stem and is rigid enough to not let mash paddles or bumping it damage the thermometer?
Any advise would be great!!
