Just thought of something In my first mash attempt my plastic brewing spoon snaped in half so I seem to be in the market for one. Are those plastic paddles better for mashing for this reason? I've seen wooden ones as well. What do you guys use?
I've been wanting one of those wooden msh rakes, but I can't pull the trigger for some reason.
I checked out the plastic ones at my HBS and it looks way too flimsy.
Someone on here had a father-in-law or a father make one for him. It looked sweet!

I use the wooden mash rake. It is great! I wouldn't buy one for myself originally but a friend gave it to me for my birthday. I have used it several times and if it gets broken or gets damaged I will go buy another.
I may have to look into the Stainless paddles though
