I usually boil up a 2 gallon wort and add 3 gallons of water to bring up to 5 gallons. I was thinking of using a Phil's Sparger to add the three gallons of water as a way of aerating the added water. Has anyone tried this ?
Do you think it would be helpful?

Probalby unnecessary. Your top up water should have suffiecient oxygen in it and you shouldn't need to aerate your wort.
