The combo kit is really offered because of the demand. So many people are scared to drill a hole in their pots and don't want to do it twice. The most practical use is in a metal HLT and then maybe a BK. I wouldn't put the combo kit on an MLT.
NooB question. Can the sight glass be calibrated, so you know exactly how much liquid is in, or is it just to give you an idea what level the liquid is at?

install the glass, then put in a gallon, make a mark on the glass, then two gallons, another mark, etc. it can't be a univeral thing, because each pot is different sized, etc. and where you install the glass is different.

The best bet for a bit is the 3/16 - 7/8 unibit because it has the 9/16" step for the sight glass and can also get the 7/8" hole for a 1/2" weldless bulkhead if you ever need it.
How high off of the bottom of a keggle do you recommend the combo thermo/sight glass be installed? It seems to me that the sight glass should be installed as low as possible. However wouldnt such a placement be too low for the thermometer due to the heat from the burner?
I've read that Blichmann recommends installing their brewmometer 6" off the bottom.
I am interested in one of your combo units for my HLT keggle.
