Pressue Barrel - instead of bottles?

Hi, I am new to home brewing and I have been brought this pressure barrel. http://home.btconnect.com/thefear/be...etBarrel01.jpg
I am fermenting some lager and wondered if when the fermentation has stopped I can transfer the brew into this barrel instead of using bottles and the barrel would act as one big bottle? The barrel dosen't have a CO2 injector valve or any of that kit installed, its just the barrel with a cap and a tap. Thanks

I'm not sure, but it looks like a keg that came with an early kit I used years ago. You can use it to dispense beer, but it will be flat, unless you can pressurize it with CO2 or priming sugar. You could use it to serve a sort of cask conditioned beer.

Get yourself some Cornelius kegs if you want to get away from bottles. Much easier. Much less cleaning, and you can dispense beer just like at the pub with it.

Yes, you can batch prime and it will carbonate in your dispenser. Be sure everything is clean.
