Default Plumbing parts, ANSI/NSF 61-8 and -9

I just bought a hose faucet ("bibb") to be used for makeshift brewing wash-rinse utility sink.

It is made mostly out of brass, and thought of giving it the Palmer brass treatment (hyd. peroxide+vinegar, timed bath).

Reading the faucet tag, it says ANSI/NSF 61-9. Good news I thought.
Not really so, as it appears the -9 standard is not for drinking water, The -8 standard is.

I would think that for our beer activities, when given a choice, it would be best to stick with -8 rated components..?
(I can hear the plumbing experts here LTAO from where I sit...!)

Sadly, even an item is labelled meets ANSI/NSF blabla.. who the heck knows who certified the item met requirements..?
