Before you go igniting a sulfur strip in a barrel, make sure you REALLY NEED TO fit your situation/barrel.

For small homebrewing barrels, and barrels that contain SPIRIT fumes, burning sulfur is NOT necessary unless you're opting for long term dry storage. If you're going to keep the barrel filled, even between batches, then 190 degree water, and water and spirits are sufficient.
I've had my 50th birthday barleywine in my barrel for a year, and I'm just going to do the hot water fill with bourbon after and get it filled with a new beer within a few weeks.
