Mini Brew MLT... Anyone here use them?
|
|
I may be acquiring some really nice brewing gear, and part of it is a Mini Brew MLT. I have been using a 10 gallon converted cooler, however this would be a nice upgrade. I'm just trying to get as much info as I can before getting this beast...
Cheers!

You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline - it helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.

With them wanting $249 for MLT and $200 for the HLT the price of those two items alone is a deal killer for me. That makes 15.5 kegs a cheaper deal especially if you got the kegs already, cheap or free besides made of thick stainless vs plastic. My eleven 15.5 and three 7.75 kegs total cash cost is $120 plus four six packs. This plus a thick walled 16" x 17 1/2" tall straight sided 15 gallon bucket given to me by a friend. I have a hand full of scouts always knowing what i'm looking for. Welding kegs into keggles will only cost me the items to be welded, welding rod, gas and labor as I have a large Tig welder. On those plastic buckets the only advantage I see is the thermo difference which can be corrected to a high degree with stainless kegs is using closed cell insulating material done with some thinking plus your material costs. Maybe this works out better for you than my brewing build who knows? Think it out first before going on a spending spree. JMO's. Good hunting....

Well, on top of the Mini Brew MLT, I'd be getting a 14.5 gallon Blichmann Conical, two 15 gallon SS Polarware pots with full hardware, 2 stainless steel banjo burners, all valves, fittings, tubing with disconnects, and assorted brewing gadgets for 600 bucks plus gas money...
Not a bad deal if you ask me

You just went from black and white to color mentioning all those other items, heck yeah that's a good deal. Hit the "buy it now" quick as you can button grab it all quickly. Explain it to the War Department later she'll get over it.
Early "me to Me" x-mas item crossed off the list.
Heck today I ordered another 4 pack of corny's thru CHI company here in northern Calif. Now up to 20 Pepsi corny's plus one Coke pin lock corny that
I want to exchange for a Pepsi corny.
Buy now explain later as later the corny's will be gone and cost more due to the demand supply thing with corny's that your LHBS know about. Get your corny's if your going that direction quickly there going fast at the CHI company unless you have another supply of them in your area.

I'm working on it... I've been refreshing my personal email from work every 5 minutes waiting to hear from this guy...
I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but damn this is a good deal!

I've been using one of these mini-mash lauter tuns for 2 years. It's great. My efficiency is typically 73 - 77% (depending on the style). It vorlaufs great, I only recirc 10 mins or so and it crystal clear. Best piece of brew equipment I've purchased.

Just curious, but have you tried upping your efficiency? I have been around 80% so far, so if you are of the opinion that its the MLT, thats a concern...
Thanks for the feed back!
