Default keggle coupling welding alignment?

for those of you with welded keggle couplings - how do you ensure that they are "aligned" correctly? ie how do you make sure that your thermometer isn't upside down when it tightens fully? do you just tighten it by hand in the coupling then put an "up" mark on it, or what? also what should i expect to pay for punching holes and welding 3 couplings?

I use different thicknesses of teflon tape to adjust how far the thermo or valve can screw in.

I do the same with teflon tape. As far as getting the couplings welded. I bought a step bit and drilled the holes myself then took it to a local TIG welder and paid about $25 per weld.

You'll want to use a thread sealer like teflon tape then just screw it in until it's snug and lined up. You don't have to tighten is far as you can. I also paid $25 per weld and supplied the couplers.
