More reasons to keg:

-you can set youself up to serve from commercial kegs relatively cheaply for those big evnets you dont' want to 'waste' your homebrew on (block parties, weddings, etc)

-Ever wanted to serve copious amounts of a mixed drink (captian and coke, "whop", sangria, etc)? Mix up 5 gallons at a time and serve it up on tap.

I'm actually considering getting an old rucksack frame and rigging it to hold a corney keg so I can be a mobile bartender at a convention.

: )

Just be patient and start piecing it together on Craigslist an other classifieds. Any friends that work in bars? The beer companies and bar service guys have most of what you need on their trucks and leave it on site often. I got 4 kegs 5 gal sankies but its not that hard to take them apart and I got them for free over time so I focused on a sankie set up. I got the coupler from a bar tender who i know who said it was left around I got 2 regulators for free from another restaurant that was going out of business. Found a guy selling a 20lb co2 tank for 70 bucks on CL , i told him if he cant sell it Id give him 50 and picked it up the next day. some new hose and tap didnt cost much. Now Im pretty set for very little. Thing was all this took about 6mths to piece together. If you have time then take your time and hunt for deals man, it can be done cheap if you take your time.

Default Kegging or All Grain Setup

I too have been debating getting into kegging, but haven't pulled the trigger yet because I also been considering moving up to an all grain setup.

I've been looking around at kegging supplies quite a bit though because I think it'd be great to have draught beer at my house! A friend recently sent me a 10% off coupon for everything at Keg Outlet. They have few different homebrew keg kits and their prices seem pretty fair... especially if you use the 10% off code: KEG10APRIL - it is apparently good through the end of April.

Curious to hear thoughts on whether all grain or kegging should come first in my homebrew journey!

Get a 15cf chest freezer a Johnson controller 2 kegs 10lb c02 and picnic taps + beer line + Quick disconnects. I got all of mine for about 500$. I got the new chest freezer on sale at conns for 250$ its a Hair. 250$ for the rest at keg cowboy. You wont regret it! Keg prices have gone up a little it might be more now.
