Is a Johnson Thermostat Control probe waterproof?

Hey everyone.

Can i put my analog johnson probe in a glass of water?

I do not think it is submersible. Why would you want to submerse it?

ive heard by submerging the probe in water, it will provide a more stable temp reading. i dont believe it but i thought it wouldnt hurt to try it. thats why im asking.

No!! You must use a thermowell, i.e. a waterproof tube to protect the probe. See Brewers Hardware for an example
