Help me pick burners for my new 3-tier stand
|
|
I'm building a three-tier stand out of a Whalen Industrial Rack from Costco. I have pretty much everything figured out, except for what burners to use. I need one for the brew kettle and one for my HLT.
I've read good things about the Blichmann burners, but really don't want to spend $125+ per burner.
I intend to brew 5 gallon batches, but I've designed the system to allow for 10 gallon batches if/when the time comes.
I'm looking for good efficiency, not very loud, and able to quickly heat my water. Each burner should also be no more than about $60.
Which burner models would you recommend?

I'd recommend the BG-14, here: http://www.agrisupply.com/bg-high-pressure-cast-iron-burner-/p/64494/cn/5400000/
These are fairly quiet, and very powerful. They can easily be used to boil 10 gallon batches (which is what I use them for).
$29.95 each, though you'd have to mount it yourself. Really, mounting it can be pretty simply. I just hang mine off of my keggles as seen below.

Excellent. Those were on my short list of burners that I had found on my own.
What kind of regulator would I need for that burner?

I picked up a zero to 30 psi regulator off Amazon.

I just used brass fittings from HD and two small valves to make the tee. All the fittings are stock and were under $10.
I can get more specific if need be.

Look how More beer does thier piping. http://morebeer.com/search/103469 It's a 1/2 steel manifold with Tees and ball valves for every burner.
If you figure out your measurements, Home Depot will cut and thread the pipe for you. To hook the gas up you can get the correct fitting here
(or anywhere else you can find it)
http://www.tejassmokers.com/products/brassfittings.htm
I have a single tier stand but the manifold I made is basicly the same.
