I have been through a few iterations of chilling tchniques. I've tried an ice bath in my bathtub, ice bath in a wash tub and a 20' IC. They all worked about the same and took a long time to chill my wort.
Cooling my wort got to be a part of brewday that I dreaded. Even with the IC it took a looooong time to chill and I couldn't get down to my preferred temp of 62* because my tap water, even in winter is 70*.
So last week I broke down and bought this from nybrewsupply.com (through Amazon)

I decided to use my 20' chiller as a pre chiller. The results were pretty good!
From a boil to 65* in 22 minutes using 16lbs of ice in a cooler and about 20gals of water (into my pool).
This should save me a ton of time and heart ache...
