So, you're going to put a hammer and a rolling pin on your Christmas list? A Corona mill is the absolute minimum. If you don't want to do that, you're better off just buying your grain pre-crushed.

I can see no reason why having it gear driven would help anything. Both rollers turn just fine when there's grain going through the mill, which is what counts. And if you have to sacrifice adjustability with a gear drive, that's a real negative point - there would have to be some big advantage to make it worth the loss of adjustability, yet I have never seen anyone mention any such advantage.
