Default freezer thermostat suggestions?

Yesterday, I was able to pick up a full size chest freezer
for the wonderful price of free It happens to have the
dail on the outside for adjustments, but I don't think that
gets it above 20deg (?)
I've scanned online HB's, and ebay and found these:

Any suggestions on longevity, accuracy, and overall performance from such devices (perhaps from experiances) would be nice in helping me make a descision
on what to buy.

Thanks guys !

I have the one in your third link, and it works very nicely. I bought mine un-wired on eBay for about half that price...wiring it up was a little more difficult than I expected.

+1 on the Ranco. I have the one where it's already wire - you just plug the freezer plug into the Ranco outlet and plug the controller into the wall. Works like a charm.

I have your first link (Johnson Controls A419) running the kegerator (freezer) and the third link (Ranco) running an old fridge for fermentation temps. I haven't had any problems out of either unit. Search Bad351stang on ebay for the ranco units. That is where I got my Ranco for roughly half of your links price.

We have heard great things about both the Ranco and the J/C controllers. I have the J/C because it's cheaper, and I am a cheapskate. I've had it for several years now with no problems whatsoever.

this is a really old thread but i am hoping to get it going again..

purchased a chest freezer today and it has a dial on it to set the temp. Dial is 1-10.

i set it at 1 and highest it will go is 25 F. so i am going to purchase a stat to help me. i havent decide yet but i was wondering.....

when i get the stat and plug it in what do i do with the dial. at what postion or number should i set it at. should i turn it all the way up, down or....

does it basically become obsolite becuase of the control unit
