Default fermenter sampling/testing valve

I ferment in a 15 gallon plastic fermenter and would like to test/sample the beer befor racking to a secondary without removing the lid. Does any one have or use a small sampling valve on thier fermenter? If so what kind of setup is it?

You can use a wine thief if you don't have a valve.

My goal is to not open the fermented and still be able to check the gravity.

I have a ported better bottle. You could probably use their valve setup. I have only used it once so far, but it worked out really well for drawing a gravity sample. Another benefit I found was draining off the yeast after rinsing/washing.
