I was wondering if anyone else has used a side pickup or and elbow to drain wort more efficiently. If so, what did you use? Brewhardware is closed for a few days so I was looking for other options. Thanks!

I recently got and used a fitting from http://www.bargainfittings.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=46&product_id=157
On my 20 gallon of that kettle. I also use a return port to whirlpool and get a nice cone in the middle of the kettle. And a hop spider for pellet hops because I use a plate chiller.

I only used the whole setup once so far, but had no problems. I actually ended up with more than my target volume, so I need to make some adjustments to the software to really dial it in. I haven't racked from primary yet so I don't know what kind of sediment is in the buckets. But I did notice a nice cone in the kettle, and the side pickup tube allowed me to drain much more clear wort.
