Default dunk a jug vs. siphon

I am wanting to rack off a gallon of a stout to add some coffee to it. It seems like sanitizing the entire glass growler and slowly dunking it in the bucket to fill it would be easier than starting a siphon. Less chance of oxygen contact and infection in my opinion. Any thoughts?

As it fills and cascades down the side of the growler, it will get oxidized. It may seem like a pain, but siphoning is the way to go.
Edit: unless you purge the growler with co2 first...
