Default Does a better kettle reduce time to boil?

I've got an apartment electric stove that I use for extract brewing and it works okay, but it's a pretty painful wait to boil 3 gallons and if I get a little aggressive on the amount of wort it even struggles to maintain a boil without the lid on. I can't upgrade the stove, so that got me wondering about the kettle. I have a thin walled Midwest "economy" kettle; would a better heavy duty/thick walled kettle help this by having better heat retention, or is this wishful thinking?

Thanks!
Craig

The nice thing about a thicker kettle is a more even transfer of heat. It doubt it would help your stove to boil harder or faster.

Who knew there was an ancient recipe for beer in the Bible?

My paraphrase: "Since you don't know what disasters might befall you , when you make beer share it with friends. Someday you might need them to share with you."
