I bought a 48qt rectangular rubbermaid. Only problem was that the wall was thick and I had to order my bulkhead fittings instead of making a trip to home depot.

Hi,
I personally recommend either the 5 gal or 10 gal cylindrical "Gott style" or "Rubbermaid" water coolers. (like the one on this page)

These provide just about an ideal grain bed depth and hold heat and drain well.

They can be easily converted by removing the tap, popping in a false bottom (such as Phils) and putting a stopper in the tap and a tube from the false bottom through the tap.

I will always say to go bigger then you think you may need. I have found that 10 gal batches don't last all that long around my house. So I'm happy I went with an 80qt cooler. This means that I could go to 15-20 gal batches once I get the larger kettle.
