Default Cleaning aluminum brew pot

Hey Gang,

I have an aluminum brew pot that did not get cleaned out well after my last brew several months ago... What is the best way to get this pot back in to shape for a brew I am doing on Sunday? I soaked a couple days in some PBW but there is still stains and what not on it but should it be good to brew with? I also have a stainless brew kettle needing cleaned and a ale pale bucket that is a mess.

The stains are probably just an unevenly distributed oxide layer.

If your surface is scrubbed smooth, you should just brew in it.

If you want to start fresh, you can find an oxalic based cleanser (bar keepers friend). That will remove the stains, and leave you with a fresh 'raw' (not oxidized) surface.

You actually want that dark oxide layer on the pot... Boil it with as much water as you can for 30 minutes... That should both clean any crap off the pot, and put the oxide coating back on it...

Read the sticky about using aluminum pots in brewing.

Thanks for the advise! I should be able to handle that.
