Chest Freezer Rusting and chipping repair help?
Alright i have a old Chest freezer that im turning into my home brewing fermentor. It has some small rusting and places where the paint has chipped away. I know that i can go buy appliance paint and paint over the spots. But wanted to know if anyone recomends a adhesive or something to put down as a base coat to help this from not happening again. Any prouduct that anyone has used to repair rust spots on a freezer before applying paint would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance

Same problem here, never thought of asking on HBT! |
No one has any solutions??

you could try sanding out the rust then applying the paint. Not too complicated.

I've known people to use POR15 with great results.
Someone else here a year or so ago used a solution that eats away a bit of rust and seals it up turning the rust into black spots. Anything that would form an airtight seal over the rusting areas will prevent further rust. Then just primer and paint over it. |

This works very good, you just need to remove loose rust and sand the paint to a feather edge first. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_SPM213924717P?sid=IDx20101019x00001a &ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=SPM213924717 Attachment 23252
