Default Cheap pump, good buy

If you are looking for a way to chill your beer quicker on a budget, this pump works great when submerged in an ice bath and pumped through your chiller.

I use the smaller, 158gph model to pump ice water through my plate chiller, and it STILL pumps too fast. I usually run out of ice before I run out of hot wort.

It did run too fast even at the lowest setting, good to know about the smaller model. I have free access to a commercial icemaker so I had enough ice.

How much ice do you usually try to use with that pump? I’m trying to be more efficient with my water usage.

I tend to use 20 to 30lbs of ice in the summer. My hose water temp is about 85*F then.

Been using one of those for a while now... Started with my CFC and now my plate chiller... Been forgetful about acquiring ice from my free source the last couple brews, so I just used my garden hose... Need to get back to ice...
