Can't think of a reason why not. What is it made from?
What capacity is it?

Most canning pots are aluminum but I've never seen a black one. If it is aluminum it should be fine.

I use a large canning pot to can starter wort. I can about 5 gallons at a time so I can make starters in about 30 minutes.

Is it enameled? That's fine as long as there are no chips. Exposed iron can make for weird tastes.

I used an enameled steel canning pot as my first boiling pot for extract boils. Worked great.
