Default Calling Sankey Fermenter Owners: Ball Valve Location

I've got an extra sankey keg with the top cut off that it not being used so I figured I would make a 10 gallon fermenter out of it. I see no problem in fabricating some sort of sealing clear lid for the top but as far as the ball valve goes...any opinions on the best location? Here are the different placements I've seen:

1. Very bottom of keg.
Pros: No siphoning (or CO2 pressurizing) when transferring
Cons: ??? (Yeast plugging or being drawn out when transferring???)

2. Side of keg with siphon dip tube
Pros: ???
Cons: ???

3. No ball valve, use transfer siphon tube only
Pros: Being able to move around tube to avoid sucking up yeast
Cons: Without a sealed keg, you cannot start the siphon with CO2 pressurization

I like the idea of the bottom so I can pull yeast off for harvesting, but is this realistic without the conical shape? I figured I'd see if anyone had any input before I put the welder to the keg.

I always just siphon out of mine... then again I don't have the top cut off any of mine either so I just seal and CO2 push. Might as well put a valve in since the lid is already off, I'd put it on the side with a dip tube.
