Default Calculating IBU for Keggle

My keggle has 1.7G equipment waste.

It's a lot of beer to waste on a 5G batch, but most of the trub is below the 1.7G mark.

My question:

How do you calculate IBU for such a batch?

I assume you just include the "trub" in the calculation (5G + 1.7G = 6.7G)

But, is that realistic?

How do others using keggles calculate IBU?

You have way too much loss. Do you have a dip tube? I used my keggle for the first time yesterday to make an ipa with 12oz of pellet hops. Even with the pump, chiller and hoses it was close to 1/2 gal loss. I'm sure after tweaking it will be less. How do you leave close to 2 gal in the keg?

For the formula, you'd calculate based on the total volume in the keggle, so that would include what you leave behind.

I agree with JRems, 1.7G is quite a bit. What is your setup? Sounds like you could improve that quite a bit! I have a keggle with an offset diptube and leave less than half gallon.

Guessing here, but your siphon will break if you don't have a hose lower than the output of the kettle.
