Boiling the brew

and do they work ok?

Sorry never heard of such a thing, and it may very well work perfectly, but the words PLASTIC and BOILER scare the crap out of me!:D

I've not used the one you linked to but I have used a plastic boiler for many years with no problems. Having said that, mine has a thermostat so I could turn it down to maintain a rolling boil. I wouldn't be worried about the plastic bin but I would be concerned at the lack of control. If I was in your shoes I'd pay a little more for one with a controller of some description; something like this.
