Default BG12 question

I just got my BG12 today... it seems to be missing the spring for the damper and the fitting to attach the LP line... is this normal?

Bought a 1/4" NPT - 3/8" flare fitting at HD I'm going to try.

How important is the spring?

The fitting from HD does not have the small opeining in it for metering the gas, you will need to buy one for the pressure you plan to use. If you need links to suppliers let me know and I will post the links. Here is a picture of a gas orifice fitting http://www.tejassmokers.com/images/f90cast.jpg, they will have the size you need in both straight and 90 degree configurations.
