Default Bazooka screen

I've never seen on close up but I've tried to make one.
Did I use the right material, have I got it right?

Looks right, I am considering one of these also, but my main concern is damaging it while I am stirring up the trub at the end of the boil. I use a 4 ft long stainless paddle, and it will beat the hell out of the strainer.

I was thinking the same.

How about using a protctive grill over the top, Some thing like the grills you get on a small bbq.

or a pizza tray

But cover it with mesh, and run the drain tube in the side, angled towards the bottom center might work ok.

A good kettle screen should not require any whirlpooling or any stirring of the wort. That is, unless you just want to stir up your hops or just feel like you need to be stirring something. The bazooka screen is ok, but it won't do anything for pellet hops. Ask ORRELSE how he likes his Hop Stopper......

Prosit!
