Default barley crusher question?

Ok I just got a new barley crusher in the mail. It says that its set at .039 thousands of an inch... Is it ok to leave it at that setting .. will it work well and be efficient or should I adjust it... If so how the hell do I adjust it?

I use the factory settings on mine and it has been working great.

I run a little tighter at .036 and it works well. I had a stuck sparge at .032.

You loosen the two Philips head screws holding the side plate closest to the two knurled knobs, then rotate the knobs to adjust the roller spacing relative to the drive roller (the one with the drive shaft). An automotive feeler gauge (commonly used for setting point and plug gaps) comes in handy to make sure you set the spacing evenly end-to-end. Then tighten the two Philips head screws.

The factory setting has the scribed lines on the knurled knobs pointing to 12 O'Clock high...

Cheers!

you could get a sack of grain, a few pounds of various crystal malts and a pound of hops for that money, make any beer you want.

I run mine at .030 without any problems. I gapped mine with feeler gauges and I am glad I did as the factory gap was tighter on one side than the other.

I just got mine today too, can't wait to use it. And to be able to buy grains in bulk...
