Sorry if this has been covered already. I searched through forum, but didn;t really find what I was looking for, mostly just found B3 vs BM discussions.
I have been planning on building a brutus type system. Basically a brutus 10 but with blichmann kettles (since I have one already and want consistency)and a no weld frame (slotted angle iron with high temp paint). Lately though I've been looking at the B3 1550 tippy dump sculpture. Has anyone used both that can chime in with why they prefer one over the other?
I'm not sure I like how much dead space is in the B3 kettles, as I see this as it's major drawback. I would be looking at getting the SMART system, but not the full digital package, as that is just too much money. So I'd be looking at around $2700 or so since I can go pick it up to save shipping. I know the brutus would be less by close to a grand, but I'm more concerned with performance. I have no objection to DIY (although if I buy the B3, I can call and get help/hold someone else accountable if it doesn't work right), so this is not a "buy or build" thread, just interested in pros and cons of each form those who have either.
ps...Anyone in San Diego have either and would let me sit in on a brew session?
