Those should be fine, they might not last your entire lifetime and you'll have to take care of them properly but they'll work alright. I still have my turkey fryer pot made out of really thin aluminum and it still works great for heating mash water.

I have one fromm Instaware. Probably not same model, though.

Nice thick aluminum, Made in Korea

I still have shipping box and may find part number...

EDIT: mine says "Royal Industries" on box

For forty bucks, that's a great kettle. I would only advise getting a thicker, more expensive pot if you are the type to abuse the heck out of things.

yeah i saw the thicker one, its like $20 more. Its a 13lb pot instead of a 9lb pot. You guys think I should go with that instead? What are the benefits of a thicker pot besides durability?

I wouldn't spend $20 for a thicker pot, the benefits are marginal at best.

I have a nice thick pot, 6 mm I believe. Since I indend on dropping this off the roof of my house, repeatedly, I need it. You should be fine with the thickness of the pot you listed.

I would spend the extra $20 on the larger pot.

Go bigger, rather than thicker.

Ahem.
