Not much time left here, which is good. I spent part of one of my days at the hookah bar on base. Celebratory fire from jubiliant Iraqis was present in the background noise, standing out against the whines and roars of the many generators which allow the base to function. Germany was by far the best part of this year. Being able to spend 12 days with my wife while we inflicted German beer upon our livers was a lot of fun. We learned a lot, traveled a lot, and drank a lot.

Today marks the beginning of Eid Al-Fitr, the days of feasting that signal the end of Ramadan, and it's going on in Iraq despite the clouds of insurgency that hang overhead. I was invited to have some lunch with some Iraqis today as they broke the fast and ate homecooked food.
