62 Minute RyePA (a Wise Guys Brew)

Posted 09-30-2010 at 12:44 AM by JLem
Brewed on 8/28/10
Bottled on 9/17/10

My brother, Jeff, and I hadn't brewed together in a while, so we decided it was about time. He did the first draft of the recipe and I tweaked it a bit by upping the rye and crystal malts and suggesting some hop schedule changes. He came back with more ideas about the hops and we had a true collaborative brew on our hands.

Nothing else to report really from a brewing perspective. We hit all our numbers and everything went...

Irreproducible ESB

Posted 09-30-2010 at 12:43 AM by JLem
Brewed on 8/1/10
Bottled on 8/14/10

Amarillo Wheat

Posted 09-30-2010 at 12:42 AM by JLem
Brewed on 5/19/10
Bottled on 6/3/10

Award winner - First Place in "Domestic or Foreign Wheat Beer", Yankee Spirits Homebrew Contest (June 1010; non-BJCP)

This was my first attempt at making a wheat beer. I was looking for something light (in color and body), crisp, citrusy, and refreshing for the summer months to come. My wife is a big fan of Harpoon's UFO Hefeweizen, so I used that as my inspiration. I don't care for the banana and cloves associated...

Little Rhody Red

Posted 09-30-2010 at 12:40 AM by JLem
Brewed on 3/19/10
Bottled on 4/17/10

This is one of my favorite beers I have brewed to date. Not just because it came out awesome, but because it is really the first beer that I designed to taste and not to any particular style. I wanted a hoppy, reddish-brown ale with a little bit of roastiness, a little bit of body, but not a lot of caramel-sweetness. And that's exactly what this is.

I also like this beer because I used some locally-grown Rhode Island hops...
